It's been over a month...*puts herself in a corner* But I've done a lot! I've managed to give four presentations in four weeks (of which only one I consider good but they don't have high standards here...), to suck not too much in my Japanese-class (I fear I won't pass the final-exam, it's just too much work, but surrendering is for sissies), to watch Azerbaijan undeservedly win the ESC (Jedward, anyone?! ), to update my reading-list and die my hair pink. You would think now that've cut my hair to chin-length, one of those claire's cans would suffice...well I’ve tried not to walk in front of people for a few days  So next time it’s either two cans or just highlights, because before I'm entering the job-world,  I want my hair to be somewhat black, orange, blue, green and purple at least once

And all this more or less successful activities I've done while falling madly in love with Jesse Eisenberg. Yes, I know, my crushes seem to change pretty fast, but let me say two things:
1. Andrew is still in my heart (can't wait till the Never Let Me Go-DVD comes out, cause the book is unbelievably boring )
2. Jesse is my Milo Ventimiglia (this is a reference only my friend LuckyDucky can understand, but it basically means I've found my soulmate)
I've never paid that much attention to him while watching The Social Network (because the ridiculous suits were simply more attracting than the fuck-you flip-flops...) but after I've stumbled upon this video there was no turning back
I guess I have a type: curly hair, fast talking, nerdy, glasses (he wears some in real life) and younger-looking (very important because I fear I might become a pedophile one day ). But it aren't his looks which attract me, it's his "awkward" personality. He is a very intelligent, sensitive and asperger-ish person, and at least from the latter I can say we share this character trait. Although his insecurities turn into shyness and modesty, while I've been a sarcastic attention-whore all my life (both ways don't give you much friends in high school ).
Well, I don't wanna be one of those "oh he/she is JUST like me"-fans, so I stop here and leave that for my diary (along with the glitter-heartshaped-stickers).

These are from Zombieland, the movie in which I like him the most (but so far I've just seen four...)

Is there an age-limit on celebrity-crushes? And I don't mean age-difference (I remember being in love with Kiefer Sutherland when I was 13) but the fact that I'm a grown-up (if you consider 5'2'' grown) woman of 21 years and in love with Andrew Garfield. Isn't that some teen-thing? For people reading J-14 and Twist?
Oh, wait, I'm reading those magazines.
So I guess it's okay.

No, honestly, since I saw Never let me go a week ago, I'm spending way too much time YouTube-stalking him (there's a video of all his scenes from the British-TV-show Sugar Rush from 2005 when he was 22 - but looking 15. I saw it so many times I'm starting to talk British - help! ).
You probably don't know him, but you'll soon, because he is...Spidermaaan! xD They appointed him as the heir of Tobey McGuire's spidercostume, which means he'll be super-famous pretty soon. Right now his biggest hit had been The Social Network where he portrayed Eduardo Saverin and that's where I know him from.
I love this movie and I can't even tell you why. Over Easter I redecorated my apartment a little and created this little collage of Mark Zuckerberg's TIME-Cover (as Person of the Year 2010) and quotes from the movie:

Yes, I'm that nerdy.

Well, I'm off to YouTube again (nooo, I don't have to study), but I'm leaving you this:

PAAAAAAASSED!!!
I made it! I've passed the fucking Spoken English exam! I've kicked transcription in the ass!! No linguistics for me! ever! again!
As you may have noticed in my last post, this was a really big issue for me, but since I got the results on Monday I'm literally hovering ten inches above the ground.
I'm not a failure.

But I still suck at updating this website, it's been two months... but I have good excuses! The first month I've spent writing two papers (spending three weeks on the first and then getting a little freaked out cause there was only one week left for the second paper  I've basically lived in the university during this time, cause in my apartment were so many distractions ) and the other one interning at the local library of my hometown.
I had so much fun, it was the exact opposite of my bookstore-internship last summer. I rarely felt like an intern, because I was part of the team from the first day on  It's a pretty small library (~29.000 media) but my hometown isn't big either (8.581 people, and this doesn't include me anymore since I'm officially living in Mainz for 1 1/2 years now). So unlike in big city libraries or research libraries you have to do everything from loaning/returning, shelving books and helping customers with searches to ordering books and organizing readings.
It actually scares me a little how much fun I had. I could really picture me as a small-town-librarian (I've applied for a summer job there got accepted )! I thought I gave up on that dream years ago since I don't want to end as a mousy old spinster, but on the other hand, someone has to prove that librarians can be cool...
What worries me more is the fact that budgets get slashed everywhere (I don't want my job to turn me into a billionaire but it should finance my multiple popcultural addictions). And with Jeff Bezos taking over the publishing world how long will physical libraries still exist?  Do you still go to your library for fun (i.e. not for paper-researching) or do you buy all your books (I'm way to Uncle Scrooge-y for that)? Do you read at all??

You haven't heard of me for quite some time, but there was nothing interesting to blog about. The last month was just studying, studying, studying and in the end...I fear I've failed my Spoken English (English Linguistics) course  I've already found 18 mistakes in my transcription and only 20-22 are allowed. It's quite comforting to know that most of my class will fail as well (because everybody not studying Linguistics hates Linguistics and everyone studying American Studies is interested in American culture and not the way they pronounce their vowels ), but it still sucks. Really, really hard. I'm not a failing-exams-person. Yes, maybe my social life is boring, my cooking skills are non-existant, my apartment is a mess and I code like a 12-year-old but I DO NOT FAIL EXAMS!
No I know how Rory must have felt like in The Incredible Sinking Lorelais  But she had five upcoming exams, I had just two (Japanese-test went quite good btw).

I hate my minor. Really, if I would get the chance to turn back time, I would've not taken American Studies again. I'm in my third semester and so far none of the courses were fun, they were just boring and a lot of work (the workload for my major is wayyy lighter). And I fear it will stay this way (I'm still waiting for anything related to current America...or at least post-WWII).

*sigh* Yeah, well, I'd really appreciate it if you could pray that something heavy falls on the head of my professor so he just gives us all an A  Everyone doing this may grab an icon (one per prayer! ):
